A QR code that leads every guest to their own photos

Put one QR code where guests will see it, and the photos find them later. SpotMe photo sharing gives every event a guest link, and the QR code is simply that link in a form a phone camera can read.

Free forever on 10 GB. Every feature on every plan.

At a glance

  • Print it before the day

The guest link exists as soon as you create the event, so the QR code can go to the printer weeks ahead.

  • Scan, selfie, photos

After you deliver, guests scan with their phone camera, take one selfie and see only the photos they are in.

  • Free QR code maker

Paste your guest link into our free generator and download a code ready for print or screens.

Where the QR code works best

A QR code earns its place where guests stand still for a few seconds. The spots that work at Indian weddings:

  • Reception table cards. Guests are seated, phones already out. The most reliable placement.
  • The welcome board at the venue entrance, next to the couple’s names.
  • Invitation inserts or the last page of the e-invite, so guests who skip the reception still have it.
  • The stage screen between performances at the sangeet or reception. Keep it up for at least 30 seconds.
  • Return gifts and mithai boxes, on a small tag. People open these at home, which is exactly when the photos are ready.
  • Room drops at destination weddings, alongside the itinerary.

Keep the wording simple and tell guests when to scan: “Scan after the wedding to get your photos.”

What happens when a guest scans

The QR code opens your guest link in the phone browser. There’s no app to install, and most phones scan straight from the camera.

Once you have uploaded the event and run Find faces, a guest who scans:

  1. Enters their name and mobile number, and gets a one-time code on WhatsApp (SMS if WhatsApp fails).
  2. Takes one selfie.
  3. Sees every photo they are in, about a second later, under your studio’s name and logo.

The link stays the same before and after delivery, so a card scanned at the sangeet still works when the photos are ready. Guests who come back on the same phone go straight to their gallery.

QR code and WhatsApp link: use both

The QR code reaches people at the venue: the elderly relatives, the neighbours, the groom’s office friends who aren’t in any family group. The WhatsApp link reaches everyone who has already gone home, including relatives abroad. Both open the same guest gallery, so there’s nothing extra to manage.

It’s safe for the guest link to end up on a printed card or a forwarded photo of one. Anyone who scans still has to verify a mobile number and take a selfie, and they only see photos of themselves.

The one link that should never go on a QR code is the couple’s master link. It opens the full wedding, so keep it for the couple alone. More on how the two differ on the wedding photo sharing page.

Make the QR code in a minute

Copy the guest link from your event, paste it into our free QR code generator and download the code. A few print tips from weddings we’ve seen go wrong:

  • Size: at least 2.5 cm across on a table card, larger on a welcome board guests read from a metre away.
  • Contrast: dark code on a light background. Gold foil on maroon looks lovely and scans badly.
  • Quiet zone: leave a clear margin around the code. Don’t let floral borders touch it.
  • Test the proof: scan the printed sample with an Android and an iPhone before the full run.

Not just weddings

The same QR code works anywhere people gather and leave before the photos are ready: conference lanyards, the back of a race bib, a school convocation programme, the notice board at a temple festival or a garba pass. See event photo sharing for how SpotMe handles crowds of strangers.

From photographers using it

  • “The sangeet alone was around 3,800 photos and I was dreading the “bhaiya, where are my photos” messages. I dropped one link in the family WhatsApp group. By next morning most guests had downloaded theirs, and two of them asked for our rates.”

  • “We shoot a lot of weddings in the Rann tents. Guests fly back to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Dubai the next morning. One link that works wherever they are beats chasing ten WhatsApp groups.”

  • “A 9,000-photo destination wedding at a lakeside palace hotel. Most guests had their photos before checkout on the last day.”

Common questions

How do I make a QR code for wedding photos?

Copy your SpotMe guest link and paste it into our free QR code generator, then download the code for print. Guests who scan it reach their own photos after the wedding.

Where should I put the wedding photo QR code?

Reception table cards work best, followed by the welcome board, invitation inserts, the stage screen and return-gift tags. Add a line telling guests to scan after the wedding.

Can I print the QR code before the wedding?

Yes. The guest link is created with the event and doesn’t change, so you can print it weeks ahead. Guests can use it once you have uploaded the photos and run Find faces.

Is it safe to print the photo link as a QR code?

Yes, for the guest link. Anyone who scans must verify a mobile number and take a selfie, and they only see photos they appear in. Never print the couple’s master link.

Do guests need an app to scan the QR code?

No. Most phone cameras scan QR codes directly, and the gallery opens in the browser with nothing to install.

Can I use a QR code for event photos, not just weddings?

Yes. The same guest link and QR code work for corporate events, concerts, races, graduations and community events.
