What’s new

We ship most weeks. Here is everything that changed, written for photographers rather than engineers.

  1. New

    A new SpotMe website

We rebuilt our public site from scratch. Feature pages now explain each part of SpotMe in detail, with real wedding examples instead of stock phrases, and there are new pages for customer stories, a help centre and a glossary of delivery and wedding terms.

The interactive demo lets you try a guest selfie match on a sample wedding without signing up. Your dashboard and galleries are unchanged.

  2. Improved

Faster Find faces on large weddings

Find faces now finishes noticeably sooner on events above 10,000 photos. We reworked how faces are grouped across folders, so multi-day weddings with five or six functions no longer take much longer than a single-day event of the same size.

Guest matching was already about one second after the selfie and stays that way. Nothing changes in how you start the job: upload, click Find faces, and wait for the email.

  3. New

Print store in guest and couple galleries

You can now switch on a print store for any event. Set your own prices for each print size, and guests and the couple can order prints of their photos straight from the gallery.

Orders are printed from the full-resolution original, not the web preview. You see every order in the event dashboard. If you already sell prints yourself, leave the store off; nothing changes for existing events unless you turn it on.

  4. New

SpotMe Studio for iOS and Android

SpotMe Studio is our app for photographers. From your phone you can create events, upload photos from your camera roll, check Find faces progress, copy the couple and guest links, and see who has opened their gallery.

It is built for photographers only. Guests and couples still open their galleries in the browser, with nothing to install. Download it from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with your existing account.

  5. New

    Guest uploads

Guests can now add their own phone photos to an event. Switch on guest uploads in the event settings and a “Add your photos” button appears in the guest gallery.

Guest photos go into a separate section, so your delivered gallery stays exactly as you curated it. You can hide any guest photo from the dashboard. It works well for receptions, where guests take hundreds of candid phone photos of each other that the couple never sees otherwise.

  6. New

    Video in galleries

Events can now hold videos alongside photos. Upload MP4 or MOV files into any folder, and they play in the couple gallery with streaming that adjusts to the viewer’s connection, so a highlight reel plays smoothly on 4G.

Videos count towards your storage like photos do. The couple can download the original file. Your watermark is not added to video; we recommend adding your logo during the edit.

  7. New

    Custom domains for galleries

Galleries can now open on your own web address, such as photos.yourstudio.com, instead of a SpotMe address. Add one DNS record with your domain provider, enter the domain in your studio settings, and we set up the secure certificate automatically.

Existing links keep working, so you don’t need to resend anything to couples you have already delivered. Custom domains are included on every plan, including Free.

  8. New

WhatsApp “your photos are ready” messages

When an event is ready, you can now send a WhatsApp message to the couple, and to guests who have already verified their number, saying their photos are ready, with the gallery link.

The message carries your studio name. You choose when it goes out from the event’s share screen, so nothing is sent before you have checked the gallery. There is no per-message charge on any plan.

  9. New

    Lightroom Classic plugin

You can now publish photos from Lightroom Classic straight into a SpotMe event. Install the plugin, sign in once, and add a publish service for each event. Collections become folders, so your Haldi, Sangeet and Reception collections arrive organised.

Re-publishing a photo after a late edit replaces it in the event. Once everything is published, click Find faces in SpotMe as usual.

  10. New

    Team accounts with roles

Studios can now add team members with their own logins. Choose a role for each person: Owner, Editor (can upload and manage events) or Viewer (can see events and guest lists, but not change them).

Second shooters and editors no longer need the owner’s password, and you can remove someone’s access in one click when they leave. Uploads show who added them. Team accounts are on every plan.

  11. New

    Download favourites as a zip

Couples can now download all their favourites in one go. In the couple gallery, open Favourites and tap Download all. We prepare a zip and the download starts when it is ready.

Couples choose original or mobile size for the whole zip, and your watermark rules apply as usual. This was the most requested change from couples picking album photos on a laptop.

  12. Fixed

Watermarked originals from large TIFF files

Fixed an issue where some watermarked original downloads failed for very large TIFF files, usually over 40 MB. The download would show “preparing” and then stop.

These files now render reliably, and the preparing state shows a clearer message while the full-resolution JPEG is created. If a guest told you a download didn’t work last month, it should work now without any change on your side.

  13. New

People view in the couple gallery

The couple gallery now has a People tab next to Gallery. It shows one tile for each person found in the event, largest first, with a count of their photos.

Tap a tile to see every photo of that person, from the nani to the best friend, with favourites and downloads working as usual. The people view loads only when the couple opens it, so the main gallery stays as quick as before.

  14. Improved

Watermarks now stay fixed per event

Changing your watermark used to affect every event, including weddings delivered months ago. Now each event keeps the watermark it had when it was first processed.

Update your logo or move the watermark whenever you like, and only new events pick up the change. Events delivered without a watermark stay that way. This came from photographers who rebranded mid-season and didn’t want old galleries to change under their couples.

  15. ImprovedFixed

Uploads resume after closing the tab

Resumable uploads already recovered from dropped connections. Now they also survive a closed tab or a laptop that went to sleep.

Open the event again on the same computer and you will see finished files ticked off and the rest ready to continue. We also fixed a case where a file that failed three times stayed stuck at 99%; it now shows a clear retry button.

  16. New

    HEIC uploads

You can now upload HEIC files, the default photo format on iPhones, alongside JPEG, PNG, TIFF and WebP. No more converting second-shooter iPhone candids before upload.

HEIC photos get the same gallery previews, face matching and download options as every other photo. The 50 MB per-file limit applies as usual.

  17. New

One-time codes on WhatsApp, with SMS fallback

Guests and couples now receive their one-time code on WhatsApp first. If WhatsApp delivery fails, we send it by SMS automatically.

Most guests already have WhatsApp open when they tap the link in the family group, so codes arrive faster and fewer people get stuck at the verification step. There is still no charge for codes on any plan.

  18. Improved

No second selfie on a new device

Guests who switch phones, or open their gallery on a laptop, no longer need to take a new selfie. They verify their mobile number with a one-time code, and SpotMe recognises their earlier match and opens the same gallery.

On the same device, the gallery still opens straight away with no code at all.
